Iceland's most famous glacier lagoon, where massive icebergs break off from Breiðamerkurjökull glacier and float toward the sea. The lagoon has quadrupled in size since the 1970s as the glacier retreats.

Diamond Beach

Black sand beach where crystal-clear icebergs wash ashore, creating a field of 'diamonds' on volcanic sand. Crystal-clear icebergs from the lagoon scatter across the black sand in every size and shape.

Wildlife

Seals are frequently spotted lounging on icebergs in the lagoon. Arctic terns and other seabirds nest near the lagoon during summer months.
