๐ŸŒŸ Our Mission

SkyRoad was created to share authentic, locally-sourced Iceland travel knowledge with adventurers from around the world. We believe that the best travel experiences come from understanding Iceland through the eyes of those who call it home.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ”๏ธ Meet Our Founder

Behind SkyRoad is a lifelong Icelandic outdoors enthusiast with decades of professional guiding experience across Iceland's most challenging and beautiful terrain. Having spent many years as a certified glacier guide, navigating the ancient ice formations that define Iceland's landscape, and as an experienced mountain guide leading expeditions across Iceland's rugged highlands, our founder brings unparalleled expertise to every piece of advice shared on this site.

With extensive experience as a snowmobile guide, exploring Iceland's winter wonderlands and remote areas accessible only during the coldest months, our founder has witnessed Iceland in all its seasonal glory. This unique perspective allows SkyRoad to offer authentic seasonal guidance that goes far beyond typical tourist recommendations.

As a dedicated member of Iceland's Search and Rescue (ICE-SAR) services for many years, safety and preparedness are woven into every recommendation we make. This commitment to safety extends throughout our family, with multiple family members also serving in ICE-SAR, creating a deep understanding of Iceland's challenges and how to navigate them responsibly.

Our founder's passion for Iceland's outdoors extends beyond professional guiding. Summers are spent exploring Iceland's hidden corners, camping under the midnight sun, hiking remote trails, and discovering the pristine natural beauty that makes Iceland truly special. This personal connection to Iceland's wilderness ensures that SkyRoad's recommendations come from genuine love and intimate knowledge of the land.
