The short version: Nightfan does not collect, transmit, sell or share personal data. It has no account, no analytics, no advertising and no server, and it makes no network requests.
The App Store privacy label for Nightfan is “Data Not Collected”. Everything the app does, from generating sound to the crib check, happens on your iPhone.
Settings stored on your device
Nightfan remembers your last sound, volume, timer length, Sunset setting, night-vision palette and crib-check limit so they are restored the next time you open the app. These preferences are stored only in the app's own local storage on your iPhone. They contain no personal information and are never transmitted to Freyr Helgason or any third party.
Microphone and the crib check
The crib check uses the iPhone's built-in microphone to display an estimated sound level so you can compare it with the limit you set. The microphone is active only while the crib check is open. Audio is metered in memory and discarded as it is measured; nothing is recorded, saved, transcribed or sent anywhere. The crib check accepts only the built-in microphone and refuses external inputs. You can grant or withdraw microphone access at any time in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security.
Accounts, analytics and advertising
Nightfan has no account system, backend service, analytics SDK, advertising SDK, tracking technology or third-party data integration. The app makes no network requests and works fully in Airplane Mode.
Purchase
Nightfan is bought once through the App Store, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions. Apple processes the purchase under its own privacy policy. Nightfan receives no personal or payment details from it.
Links to other websites
The sound provenance sheet inside the app names the source of every recording and links to the pages where the public-domain recordings were obtained. Tapping a link opens it in Safari, outside Nightfan. Those websites have their own privacy policies. The app also offers a button that opens iOS Settings when microphone access is needed.
Deleting your data
Removing Nightfan from your iPhone deletes its stored settings. There is nothing else to delete, because nothing leaves the device.
Children
Nightfan is made for parents and sleepers of any age and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Nightfan's data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy declaration will be updated before the changed version is released.
