Facet 3D scanner

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 14, 2026

Your scans are processed on your device

Facet performs 3D capture and reconstruction locally on your iPhone or iPad. The app has no accounts, analytics, advertising or cloud processing, and does not upload your scans to a Facet server.

Your device's backup settings and the sharing actions you choose can create copies elsewhere. Those are described below.

Camera and sensor information

Facet uses camera images, camera position and orientation, and available LiDAR depth information to build models of objects and spaces. Capture and model reconstruction take place on your device. Camera permission is the only permission requested by the app. You can revoke it in your device's Settings; starting a new capture then requires allowing camera access again.

Files saved on your device

Facet stores models, thumbnails and scan metadata in its Documents folder. Metadata includes scan names, creation dates, capture mode, dimensions and file information. Object scans also retain source camera images so you can use them for reconstruction on a compatible Mac. These files are accessible through the Files app and computer file sharing.

System backups

Facet's saved files are eligible for iCloud or computer backups according to your device and backup settings. Facet does not operate its own backup or sync service. Apple or your computer may store backup copies independently of the app. You control those copies through your system's backup settings.

Sharing and exports

Files leave the app when you choose a destination in the system share sheet, copy files through the Files app or a computer, or use system backups. The recipient or service you select handles the exported copy under its own practices. Sharing a file does not send it to the Facet developer unless you deliberately choose to do so, for example by attaching it to a support email.

Retention and deletion

Saved scans remain in the app until you delete them. Deleting a scan removes its local model files, thumbnail, metadata and source images. If deletion reports an error, follow the message and retry; do not assume all files were removed.

Capture folders left by interrupted or failed work, or retained with Keep files, may remain recoverable in the Files app until you remove them. Check these folders separately when clearing your data. Facet has no server copy from which to recover a deleted scan.

Deleting Facet from your device removes its local app data. Offloading the app keeps its documents and data for reinstallation. Deleting a scan or the app does not remove previously shared files or independent backup copies; manage those at their destinations.

Accounts, analytics and advertising

The Facet app has no sign-in, advertising SDK, analytics SDK or tracking service. No scan, camera image or app-usage report is automatically sent to the developer. This applies to the app; visiting this website and contacting support are separate activities.

This website and support email

These pages are hosted on the SkyRoad website, which uses Google Analytics. Website visits are covered by the SkyRoad website privacy policy. Opening a support or privacy link requires an internet connection; scanning in Facet does not.

If you email support, your email address, message and any attachments are delivered through email services and used to respond to your request. Only send information you want to share. You can contact us about deleting support correspondence; this is separate from deleting scans on your device.

Changes and contact

This policy will be updated if Facet's data practices change. For privacy questions, contact Freyr Helgason at getskyroad@gmail.com.
