Quick start

  1. 1Open Anchor and allow Location While Using the App.
  2. 2Wait for the GNSS status to show a lock.
  3. 3Choose a category and tap Drop Anchor.
  4. 4After you walk away, follow the large needle, distance and bearing to return.

Why does Anchor not say I have arrived when I drop an anchor?

Arrival is confirmed only after you first leave the saved position's GPS uncertainty radius and later return. This prevents Anchor from declaring arrival immediately when you save your current location.

Why is the arrow searching?

Move your iPhone away from magnets, speakers and large metal objects, then make a figure-eight motion to help recalibrate the compass. Make sure Location Services and Precise Location are enabled for Anchor.

What should I do when satellite reception is weak?

Move outdoors with a clearer view of the sky. Anchor can estimate pedestrian movement using the compass and motion sensors when reception is obstructed, but the displayed uncertainty grows until satellite lock returns.

Does Anchor need internet access?

No. Anchor needs no map tiles, mobile data, Wi-Fi or downloaded regions. The app makes no network requests and all saved positions remain on your iPhone.

Does the arrow calculate a safe route?

No. The arrow points directly toward the saved coordinate. It does not calculate a road, walking or wilderness route, and it cannot account for cliffs, water, private land or other hazards.

Where are my saved positions kept?

Saved positions are stored only inside Anchor on your iPhone using iOS file protection. They are excluded from iCloud and local backups, and Anchor has no account, analytics, advertising, tracking or server.

Follow safe paths, signs, local rules and real-world conditions. Do not use Anchor as your only emergency or wilderness navigation tool.
